Quit the tour. Bought a roaster.
Adi rode the WSL Qualifying Series for nine years before a torn shoulder ended it in 2018. He came home, bought a second-hand Probat roaster, talked the family into letting him take over an old bemo garage on the beach road, and put a sign out front that said open when the swell comes in. The locals called the bluff. He started opening at 5am for the dawn-patrol crowd — first their friends, then their friends' friends, then everyone. Six years later the floor is still sand, the espresso machine is still a 1998 Faema, and Adi still surfs Batu Bolong every morning before the first oat milk goes in the steam wand.
